'Monsieur Tillier' Wins Top Spot

'Monsieur Tillier' has been voted No 1 Tea Rose in a worldwide plebiscite. Rosarians around the world and Australia were asked to vote for their favourite 10 Tea roses.

'Monsieur Tillier' ( bred by Bernaix in 1891) - An old Tea rose with very distinctive medium sized, very double bright pink blossoms that darken to nearly brick red. The flowers ar fragrant and repeat throughout the season. It forms a large bush (up to 2m tall) with olive-green foliage that is easily grown in a wide variety of soils. It is hardy and carefree in warm climates.

The votes were compiled and sorted by David Ruston and Di Durston; the results were published in the Spring 2010 journal.
