An historic old building surrounded by magnificent landscaped gardens filled with roses, shrubs and perennials and shaded by huge old trees. Situated 8 kms south of the city, it is surrounded by lush farmland.
Speakers
The eleventh National Heritage Rose Conference will have as its theme “Heritage Roses – True Survivors”.
There will be nine speakers discussing the attributes of the old roses. Keynote speakers are Mike Shoup from Texas and Fiona Hyland from Dunedin. South Australian speakers include Walter Duncan, Tina Miljanovic, Pat Toolan, Sophie Thomson and of course David Ruston who will be demonstrating flower arranging fit for a future king! There are also two interstate speakers, Eric Timewell and Penny McKinlay.

Gardens
Delegates will be taken to four extensive and beautiful gardens around Mt Gambier, and four lovely gardens in the Penola - Coonawarra area, as well as the historic mansion 'Yallum Park'.
Non-delegate partners who want to visit the gardens but not attend the lectures can join the buses (if there is space) for $61 including lunch and afternoon tea; for those with their own transport, it will cost $111.
** For insurance purposes, all persons attending tours, dinners or garden visits need to be members - you can tack onto another family member for an extra $5.

A shuttle bus between the above listed motels and the conference centre has been arranged. The cost is $30pp for the conference duration and must be booked and paid for at the same time as Conference Registration. Please ensure that you let us know which motel you are booked into.

Pat Toolan has organised a very full schedule with two buses leaving Adelaide at Wednesday, 31 October, 8.00am and arriving in Mount Gambier on Friday, 2 November, 3.45pm. It starts with a Welcome Dinner and accommodation (both optional) on 30th October at The Chifley on South Terrace, Adelaide, with the tour starting on the Wednesday 31st. Highlights include Walter Duncan's magic garden at Clare and Ruston's Roses at Renmark. Cost: $518 twin share or $683 single supplement - (Includes all meals, gardens, motels - twin share - and bus travel).
People with their own transport may follow the buses but will need to arrange their own accommodation, and please notify Pat regarding the numbers for gardens and meals.
Post-Conference Tour
A special one-day tour has been organised into picturesque Western Victoria, with gardens in Casterton and Harrow on the agenda. The tour begins from Mount Gambier at 9.00am on Tuesday, 6 November and arrives back in Mount Gambier at 6.00pm.
Cost: $85.
People with their own transport may follow the buses but please notify Sue Zwar regarding the numbers for gardens and meals; cost $60. See note below garden photos re insurance.
Dinners
The costs are included in the conference fee
Delegates may book their non-delegate partner for the three special dinners which are listed as separate costs on the booking form
$30 for the Friday evening hors d'oeuvres in the garden
$25 for the Sunday evening buffet meal at Penola Rymill Hall
$60 for the Monday evening Gala Dinner
Additionally, the Regional Coordinators' meeting is to be held on Saturday evening at The Barn in their Oak Tree Room at 8pm. A meal in the same room at 7pm can be part of this at $32pp, and all regional ccordinators who would like to eat at The Barn need to pay for the meal at the same time as Conference Registration.

Priority will be given to members of Heritage Roses. Non members are required to pay an extra $40. If you wish to join Heritage Roses a membership form is included in this Journal. Extra forms can be downloaded from our website: www.heritage.rose.org.au.

Cancellation Policy
Full refund before 30th September 2012, 50% refund before 15th October and thereafter at the discretion of the National Executive.

Transport to & from Mount Gambier
Mount Gambier is situated half way between Adelaide and Melbourne, about 500kms from each city. It can be accessed by either bus or air.
Rex Airlines flies from both Melbourne and Adelaide to Mount Gambier daily and their website is www.rex.com.au As at 2/1/2012, fares from both Melbourne and Adelaide were $155 one way.
Mount Gambier airport is situated 5km north of the city and about 15km north of The Barn. A taxi from the airport to The Barn costs approximately $50.
Buses travel daily from Adelaide, leaving at 8.15am and arriving in Mount Gambier at 2.30pm. The cost is $70 ($35 for a pensioner) one way.
The bus company is called Premier Stateliner and the buses leave from the Central Bus Station, 11 Franklin Street, Adelaide.

Public transport from Melbourne starts by train and requires transfer to a bus at either Ballarat or Warrnambool.
The Ballarat train leaves from Southern Cross Station (Melbourne city) at 8am; change to a bus at Ballarat where the bus leaves at 10.10am, and arrives in Mount Gambier at 1.45pm.
When going via Warrnambool the train leaves Southern Cross Station at 7.19am; transfer to a bus at Warrnambool to leave at 11.10am; it arrives in Mount Gambier at 1.10pm.
